Undergraduate research award
The Jack Major Memorial Award recognizes excellence in the study of plant biology, and supports student field research in botany, especially in the areas of plant ecology, plant systematics, or plant geography. The award is annual, and given to either an undergraduate or graduate student. Application are not required.The award must be completed before the faculty member completes their fourth year of appointment. Currently have an externally funded research program of at least $5,000 in total direct costs. The faculty mentor must have current active external funding at the time of the start of the student award.An award of $2,250, provided by the University of Nevada, Reno, will go to the student in the form of salary as a student worker. Students will work approximately 10 hours per week at $15 per hour over a 15-week semester.
