Montauk maintained its integrity for many years in that it maintained a public beach, and I spent many beautiful days at this beach over the years. Sadly, COVID and the NYC exodus changed this. This is no longer a public beach; a permit is required. It's official: Montauk is a part of the Hamptons. P.S. The beach at Hartman's Briney Breezes MoTop 10 in public courses, but bring extra balls.
