The 10 dash 6 is known as the heavy barrel variety. Your gun is not as old as you may think, it left the factory in 1965, so it is getting some age on it though. Unfortunately you are looking at the assembly number not the serial number. You will find the serial on thr bottom of the grip frame when you remove the grips.
