Polaris ranger ecm problems
Oct 9, 2011 · The ECM (silver under hood) red wire has 12 volts on it, but the orange wire into the key switch only has 5.5 volts on it. I suspect the ECM has gone bad, but have no way to test it. When I short the starting solenoid, the ranger turns over with no issues. I hate to go and purchase a new ECM with no assurances that my problem is it. One is for the crew, HD, and 6x6 and the other for the xp. It seems to me that if the stator was going bad or completely failed, you would have battery charge problems, as the stator (alternator) is what charges and maintains the charge of the battery along with the voltage regulator. I am going to install battery disconnects, because the ECM stays powered up from the battery. Hopefully, this will prevent the ECM from failing again.
