We were actually driving one of the Kansas "scenic byways" (Prairie Trail Scenic Byway) which passes Kanopolis State Park a few miles south of this park on KS Route 141. This state park is only 15 or so miles from Monument Rocks, so take advantage and see both! The park does have a $5 self pay fee. Also, you must walk at least 1/4 of a mile to get a good view of the park. You are not able to walk amongst the formation itself but just to an overlook point.
