Its been said the Glennies shoot more accurately than the 336's because of the fore arm end cap. I can't speak to that really, but they have turned me into a Marlin fan. I like them pretty darn well.
The Glenfield Model 30 was basically a Marlin 336 with a cheaper birch stock, and stamped checkering. The Glenfield line was made for high volume mass-marketers (e.g. Wal-Mart, K-Mart), who were looking for an affordable rifle that still provided good value.Marlin has a ramp front sight, the Glenfield uses a front sight dovetailed into the barrel. The Marlins have a little nicer rear sight. Most of the Marlin 336s have a barrel band type forearm, the Glenfields use the end cap type forearm. Marlin has a gold trigger.
