An echinoderm ( / ɪˈkaɪnəˌdɜːrm, ˈɛkə -/) [2] is any member of the phylum Echinodermata ( / ɪˌkaɪnoʊˈdɜːrmətə / ). The adults are recognisable by their (usually five-point) radial symmetry, and include starfish, brittle stars, sea urchins, sand dollars, and sea cucumbers, as well as the sea lilies or "stone lilies". [3]The shoreline prevails bladed and prolate morphologies as the foreshore is mainly characterised by molluscs and spines of echinoids, whereas the shoreface is almost represented by oblate and bladed morphologies as foraminifers, bryozoans and spicule of sponges represent the most abundant phylum (Fig. 7, Fig. 10).
