ETHNOHISTORY, U.S. Ethnohistory, first used in Vienna in the 1930s by ethnologist Fritz Roack and the Viennese Study Group for African Cultural History, and a subfield of anthropology, is the use of ethnological and historical methods and materials to gain knowledge of the nature and causes of change in a culture defined by ethnological concepts and categories.Many Native Americans live on reservations located in several of the Southwestern and Midwestern states.
